What the Data Can Tell You: Market Research for Nonprofits

What the Data Can Tell You: Market Research for Nonprofits

Presented by the Small Business Development Center

Tue, Sep 15th, 2026
10:00 – 11:30 AM
CUNY College of Staten Island, Building 3A, Room 202

Nonprofits rarely think of themselves as having a “market,” but the same research that helps a small business understand its community can strengthen a grant proposal, sharpen a strategic plan, or make the case for a new program. In this session, the Staten Island Small Business Development Center introduces Research Central, its no-cost research service, and walks through what it can do for nonprofit organizations: demographic and community needs data, industry and environmental scans, feasibility research for new revenue, and financial benchmarking for board-level planning. You’ll leave knowing how to make a request and what to expect back.

Bring your questions or an idea you’ve been working on; presenters will be available for a Q&A and tailored support following the 60-minute presentation.

Light refreshments will be provided.

The College of Staten Island campus is busy in September. If you plan to drive, we will ask for your vehicle information at registration so parking agents know you are expected.
