Nonprofit Staten Island stands firmly in our values of diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, and accessibility (DEIBA). We are committed to fostering a leadership development space where nonprofit professionals from all backgrounds feel empowered, valued, and heard. Through this program, we strive to center diverse voices, cultivate belonging, and ensure all participants have the tools to thrive in their organizations and communities. We invite our participants to be vocal with us—sharing their needs, experiences, and concerns—so that we can continue learning, adapting, and coordinating the necessary supports to best serve our sector.
Take Your Leadership to the Next Level
We are now recruiting 15 emerging nonprofit leaders for the upcoming cycle of Action Learning. This is your opportunity to gain leadership skills, build peer connections, and access exclusive coaching and resources.
The 2025 Action Learning cycle is designed for our borough’s nonprofit professionals who are within their first five years of managerial or supervisory experience and are eager to develop their leadership capacity while tackling real-world organizational challenges. Participants will engage in a structured six-month journey of hands-on leadership development, guided coaching, and peer learning. This year’s program will also incorporate an enhanced focus on the mental health and wellness of our nonprofit workforce, providing participating leaders with strategies for stress management and resilience-building to support their navigation of dynamic, high-pressure environments. Through expert facilitation and collaborative problem-solving, participants will refine their decision-making skills, address current and complex challenges in their work, and expand their professional networks to drive meaningful change within their organizations and the sector at large.

Meet the Inaugural (2024) Cohort
The Action Learning Cohort launched in 2024 thanks to the dedicated support of the New York Community Trust and NYC Council. We were honored to work and learn alongside a diverse group of local nonprofit leaders, who have since fostered new community collaborations, embraced new leadership opportunities, and implemented innovative organizational practices and policies based on their experiences in the program. Many alumni remain actively engaged, excited to contribute to the development of future cohorts and strengthening Staten Island’s nonprofit sector.
