Action Learning Cohorts provide a transformative six-month experience for nonprofit professionals who want to strengthen their leadership capacity while tackling real-world organizational challenges.

Hybrid Model: In-person relationship building paired with virtual coaching and Technical Assistance to support real-time application.

Structured Peer Learning: Facilitated discussions and skill-building grounded in real leadership challenges.

Dedicated Coaching: Three one-on-one sessions with experienced nonprofit leadership consultants.

Applied Technical Assistance Clinics: Targeted support to address organizational and leadership priorities.

Leadership Sustainability: Practical strategies to navigate stress, build resilience, and sustain long-term effectiveness.

Access to NPSI Resources: Continued connection to tools, partnerships, and opportunities within the Staten Island nonprofit network.

Director-level leaders sit at the center of execution and culture. The 2026 Action Learning cycle is designed for the nonprofit leaders responsible for people, systems, timelines, and culture — often without much structured space to step back and strengthen how it all fits together.

Participants engage in a structured six-month journey that blends in-person leadership development, guided coaching, and peer learning. Throughout the cycle, leaders apply what they’re learning directly to their teams and systems — refining decision-making, strengthening accountability, and navigating real-time challenges with greater clarity and confidence. The cohort will intentionally integrate reflective practice and sustainable leadership habits to support the long-term resilience of our nonprofit workforce.

Nonprofit Staten Island stands firmly in our values of diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, and accessibility (DEIBA). We are committed to fostering a leadership development space where nonprofit professionals from all backgrounds feel empowered, valued, and heard. Through this program, we strive to center diverse voices, cultivate belonging, and ensure all participants have the tools to thrive in their organizations and communities. We invite our participants to be vocal with us—sharing their needs, experiences, and concerns—so that we can continue learning, adapting, and coordinating the necessary supports to best serve our sector.
