Stronger Together in Tompkinsville & Stapleton: A Neighborhood Partnership Lunch
Stronger Together in Tompkinsville & Stapleton: A Neighborhood Partnership Lunch
Strong neighborhoods are built on strong relationships, and there’s already important work happening across Staten Island’s North Shore.
Nonprofit Staten Island invites local nonprofit and community partners to a facilitated neighborhood partnership lunch focused on strengthening connections, identifying shared priorities, and exploring opportunities for collaboration and funding.
Led by Rick Fernandez of Fordham University and with thanks to Common Ground USA, the session will introduce the Humanitarian–Development–Peace (HDP) Nexus, an approach that connects disaster preparedness and resilience, community and economic development, and violence prevention. We’ll explore how this framework can help organizations identify common ground across their work and consider new approaches to neighborhood-level collaboration.
The conversation will also introduce opportunities associated with area-based grantmaking—funding approaches that focus on a defined neighborhood or community rather than a single organization or service—and how local partnerships can strengthen collaborative proposals and projects.
Through guided discussion, participants will have an opportunity to:
- Connect with other organizations serving Tompkinsville and Stapleton and learn more about their work.
- Explore the HDP Nexus and its practical application to neighborhood challenges.
- Identify overlapping priorities, resources, and opportunities for joint initiatives.
- Consider how stronger local partnerships can support future funding opportunities.
This gathering is intended for nonprofit organizations, community-based groups, and other stakeholders working in or serving the Tompkinsville–Stapleton area.
Space is limited. Lunch will be provided at no cost.
