Join Nonprofit Staten Island for a Virtual Roundtable with NYC Aging Commissioner Dr. Lisa Scott-McKenzie

Nonprofit Staten Island invites nonprofit leaders, service providers, advocates, and community partners to participate in an exclusive virtual conversation with NYC Aging Commissioner Dr. Lisa Scott-McKenzie and members of the Department’s leadership team.

This roundtable provides an opportunity to engage directly with NYC Aging, learn about agency priorities, discuss emerging issues affecting older adults on Staten Island, and share the experiences and challenges facing nonprofit organizations serving our aging community.

Topics may include:

  • Current priorities and initiatives at NYC Aging
  • Funding and contracting opportunities
  • Services and supports for older adults
  • Borough-specific challenges and service gaps
  • Strengthening partnerships between NYC Aging and Staten Island nonprofits
  • Questions and recommendations from nonprofit providers

This discussion is designed to foster open dialogue and strengthen collaboration between nonprofit organizations and City leadership to better serve Staten Island’s older adults.

Our Speakers

Dr. Lisa Scott-McKenzie

Commissioner NYC Department for the Aging

Dr. Lisa Scott-McKenzie serves as Commissioner of the New York City Department for the Aging (NYC Aging), where she leads the agency’s efforts to support the health, independence, and well-being of older New Yorkers.

Commissioner Scott-McKenzie brings more than 40 years of public service experience with New York City Health + Hospitals. Prior to her appointment, she served as Chief Operating Officer at NYC Health + Hospitals/Woodhull, overseeing hospital operations, facilities management, emergency management, social work services, community affairs, hospital police, and major capital projects.

A certified emergency manager, Commissioner Scott-McKenzie has played a critical leadership role in the City’s emergency response efforts, serving as an Incident Commander during Superstorm Sandy and the 2003 Northeast Blackout. She began her career with New York City Health + Hospitals in 1986 and has dedicated her professional life to strengthening public institutions, improving healthcare operations, and advancing services that support New Yorkers across all communities.

As Commissioner of NYC Aging, she is committed to ensuring older adults have equitable access to the programs, services, and resources they need to age with dignity, independence, and connection.
