Cultural Spotlight 2026: Shining a Light on the National Lighthouse Museum

On Thursday, January 29, Nonprofit Staten Island proudly hosted its 2026 Cultural Spotlight at the National Lighthouse Museum—bringing together nonprofit leaders, cultural partners, funders, and community stakeholders for an evening that was as inspiring as it was impactful.
Set along the St. George waterfront, the Museum provided a striking and meaningful backdrop for this signature gathering. More than just a venue, the National Lighthouse Museum served as the centerpiece of the evening—reminding attendees of Staten Island’s deep maritime roots and the critical role cultural institutions play in preserving and sharing our collective history.
Throughout the evening, guests had the opportunity to explore the Museum’s exhibits, engage with its mission, and gain a deeper appreciation for how it brings history to life through storytelling, education, and community engagement. As a valued Nonprofit Staten Island member, the Museum exemplifies the power of cultural organizations to connect people, spark curiosity, and strengthen community identity.
The event also created space for meaningful connection across sectors. Nonprofit leaders and partners came together not only to network, but to exchange ideas, build relationships, and identify opportunities for collaboration. In a warm and welcoming environment, conversations flowed easily—reflecting the strength and spirit of Staten Island’s nonprofit community.
The Cultural Spotlight continues to stand as one of Nonprofit Staten Island’s signature events because it does more than convene—it elevates. It shines a light on the institutions that shape our borough, while reinforcing the importance of a connected, collaborative nonprofit ecosystem.
We are grateful to the National Lighthouse Museum for hosting and for the vital work they do every day to preserve history, inspire learning, and serve as a cultural anchor for Staten Island. We also extend our sincere thanks to our sponsor, A Chance in Life, for their support in making this event possible and for their continued commitment to strengthening communities.
Through events like this—offered free to our members and partners—we remain committed to creating spaces where connection, culture, and community come together in meaningful ways.
