The Staten Island Community Organizations Active in Disaster (SI COAD) coalition is dedicated to strengthening the capacity of Staten Island organizations to effectively prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters, emergencies, and community crises.
Join us virtually at 10:30 AM on Monday, Oct. 7, 2024 for our next coalition members meeting.
We look forward to hosting Nell Durfee, Communications Specialist from NYC Emergency Management’s Hazard Mitigation Team. They’ll be sharing updates on NYC’s 2024 Hazard Mitigation Plan and highlighting digital tools – with a focus on Staten Island, of course!
The SI COAD team is also looking forward to introducing a team of student researchers majoring in Sustainability Development at Columbia University who will be working with our coalition this fall. The team’s research will take a hyperlocal look at the climate risk and burden faced by Staten Islanders, and offer recommendations on how our nonprofits can improve their resilience planning at both the organizational and community levels.
And, as always, we invite members and partners to share their updates, resources, or ideas for coalition consideration and follow up during the meeting.
RSVP below, or contact sicoad@nonprofitstatenisland.org.
